About Dividendasaur

Hello everyone and welcome.  The purpose of this blog is to share with everyone my journey to financial freedom through dividend growth investing.  I want to lay down a roadmap, one day/week/month at a time and hopefully in the process motivate others to save and invest.  I will try to answer any and all questions/comments on this blog and if I could influence even one person to start their journey to financial freedom or help keep motivated those who have already started on their path, it would be an honor.

I wanted to start this process early in my investing career so that you all could be involved from the very beginning.  Hopefully you enjoy this  as much as I do, and you stick around as I populate the blog with more content.  Thank you for stopping in, I appreciate you all so much!

About the Author

My name is Neil and I grew up in the beautiful state of Montana.  Growing up my family didn't have a lot of money so frugal living was something I learned from a very young age.  Most of my hobbies required very little to no money, camping, hiking, wrestling, throwing dirt clumps you know the usual things you would expect from a young Montanan.

When I reached the age of 18 I decided that I needed to go on a grand adventure.  I signed on the dotted line and shipped off to United States Air Force basic training.  I served for four years in military intelligence working equally with the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force.  By the end of my time I was all adventured out.  I have always been driven by challenges so in return for my service my good uncle Sam paid for me to go to college.  I studied mechanical engineering and statistics for four mostly sleepless years somehow coming out of the other side with my bachelors degree at the ripe age of 28.

After college I selected what seemed like the coolest job offer of the bunch.  A chance to work for the US Navy as a Nuclear Engineer.  Life found me off to the pacific northwest where I currently live and work.  So here we are, starting off on the next chapter: financial freedom.  Come on down and stay awhile, watch and learn with me, share your successes as we all work together to reach financial freedom.

  1. Great story and sounds like you're off to a great start.Thank you for your service, by the way. A nuclear engineer, eh? I bet with the income that provides you'll be able to quickly build up your portfolio. Just keep that spending under control and you'll be set. Look forward to following your progress.

    1. Tyler in Thailand thank you for dropping in! Working for the government knocks the salary down to a more ordinary entry level engineer salary. We do however get excellent benefits and a very large raise (20%) after about two years of service. You've got it though, hopefully I can control the spending enough to throw regular chunks of cash toward the portfolio. I'm kind of jealous that you are in Thailand btw!

      Take care

  2. Hi Dividendasaur,
Just wanted to stop by and wish you all the best. Congrat's on hitting your $10k milestone so early in your journey. I've only just started doing DGI and blogging, so I know it's not easy starting out, but when you hit a milestone it makes you feel like all the effort is worth it. It might sound a bit 'cheesy' too, but when I'm reading other people's blogs and I see them hit a milestone it also motivates me to keep pushing. Keep up the good work man, and I look forward to following your journey!
