March 2014 Bonus Buy

Well it's still March but I couldn't resist making a new purchase (stocks are my comfort food).  One of the benefits of working insane hours (up to 13's now) and graveyard shifts means they compensate well in return. This morning I decided to pull the trigger on 45 new shares of pipeline giant KMI (Kinder Morgan) at $31.89 per share.  This was an investment of $1,435.05.  KMI currently pays out $0.41 per share which works to increase my total yearly dividend by $73.80.  This brings my forward yearly dividend from $497.49 up to $571.29.

This brings me one step closer to hitting my goal of $900 forward dividends by the end of the year.  Right now, assuming a 3% interest rate on future investments this, would require an investment of $10,957 new dollars or $1,217.44 per month for the rest of the year.  I am still hoping to write articles about PM, and KMI to further explain my purchases but for now I will be holding off until time becomes less constrained.

My portfolio has been updated to reflect this new purchase.

Disclosure:  Long PM, KMI

  1. Congrats on the additional buy! I am still of the opinion that KMI is a solid buy here given the growth potential over the next several years as the natural gas boom continues to expand.

    1. Hi W2R,

I agree with you on the growth potential. I like the direction of the company and how they are vastly expanding operations. I also really like the CEO Richard Kinder which is a huge bonus.

    1. Hi R2R, I have been watching this one from the sidelines for too long. I finally made the decision to buy and was sad to see it blow up ~1% before I could even get my order in yesterday morning. Oh well in the long run it doesn't matter and I am happy to get it at this price. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. It's had good growth both today and yesterday. It looks like people are responding favorably to the news of the new pipeline expansions. The insider buying probably doesn't hurt either. I like to see companies where the executives have a large stake in the stock. Thanks for stopping in FFdividend, always good to hear from you.

    Best wishes,

  6. Congratulations on your new purchase Dividendasaur! Don't you just love it when you have a lump of cash and you take it to the stock market. It's exciting when you add the future dividends to your current pot and see the growth. Especially when you've worked hard to get that money!
    Keep up the good work.

    1. Hi Huw,

I absolutely love when I have the funds to go make a new purchase. I hate all things to do with shopping unless it is buying stocks. I guess that's a good thing though because it makes me save a lot of money. Seeing that pot fill up, which lets me buy even more is also a huge part of the fun. Thank you for stopping in, always good to hear from you.

      Take Care.

  7. Since I bought KMI in March too I obviously like this buy. The concerns by Hedgeye were fairly unsubstantiated and I think that having Richard Kinder on your side is a huge bonus as a shareholder. He's been great at growing the business and tying his own personal wealth to the fortunes of his companies is great reassurance that he'll do everything he can to make sure that the dividend/distributions are able to continue growing in the future.

    1. I agree completely with all of your points Passive Income Pursuit. I love to see a CEO tie up so much of his own wealth in his company. I feel like he will do whatever he possibly can to make his company more successful. The little boost in the last few days has been pretty nice too. Thanks for stopping in!

    1. Good to see you Guillaume! KMI is definitely worth being on the watch list at these prices. I have been heavily debating it for the last few months and finally decided it was time to start a position. So far so good. Take care :-)
